Five Years of Real Good Fitness: What We’ve Learned

Five years ago, we set up a few kettle bells in a park, not entirely sure where things would go. We had an idea, small outdoor sessions with a big focus on technique, community, and progress. What we didn’t know back then was just how much we’d learn along the way.

Looking back now, it’s clear that Real Good Fitness has grown into more than just a training business. It’s become a community, a classroom, and, honestly, a bit of a family. Here are some of the biggest lessons these five years have taught us.

Community Comes First

We started out thinking people would come for the workouts. They did — but they stayed for the people. What makes our sessions special isn’t just kettle bells, sprints, or pull-ups, it’s the laughter, the support, and the sense that you’re not doing it alone. Community isn’t an add-on; it’s the core of everything we do.

Small Groups, Big Impact

We’ve learned that keeping our groups capped at eight isn’t just a nice feature — it’s essential. It means everyone gets coached, no one gets lost, and people actually progress. The intimacy of small groups has built trust and accountability, which you just don’t find in a crowded gym.

Technique Over Ego Wins Every Time

Early on, we made a decision: we’d never chase numbers at the cost of form. Five years in, we’re proud of that. The clients who’ve seen the best results aren’t the ones who lifted the heaviest fastest, but the ones who moved well, stayed consistent, and built their strength the right way.

Consistency Beats Perfection

The biggest transformations we’ve seen haven’t come from smashing every session. They’ve come from simply showing up, week after week, in all seasons. Some days are strong, some days are slower — but it’s the steady rhythm of training that creates lasting change.

The Outdoors Is Our Superpower

We’ve trained in sunshine, frost, drizzle, and the occasional downpour. And while we may have cursed the weather more than once, we’ve also seen firsthand the power of being outside. The mental reset, the fresh air, the extra oxygen — it’s more than a backdrop, it’s a key ingredient to why our sessions work.

Growth Comes From Listening

As coaches and as a business, we’ve learned the importance of listening. Listening to what clients need, what they enjoy, and what challenges them. That’s how our classes have evolved, how our Foundations courses came to life, and how we’ve built workshops and social events alongside the training.

We Grow Together

Finally, we’ve learned that this isn’t just about our clients progressing, it’s about us growing too. Our coaches have developed their skills, our systems have improved, and we’ve built something that feels sustainable. Every year has brought its own challenges, but each one has made us better.

Here’s to the Next Five

Five years in, we’re grateful for every single person who’s trained with us, coached with us, or cheered us on from the sidelines. We’ve learned so much already, and we know there’s still plenty more to come.

So here’s to the next five years of learning, laughing, and lifting, together.
