Understanding Our Success Markers: What They Are and Why We Use Them
A Tool for Measuring Progress, Building Confidence, and Training With Purpose
At Real Good Fitness, we believe fitness should be more than just turning up and breaking a sweat. It should be measurable, purposeful, and personal.
That’s why we use Success Markers.
These aren’t just tests or random challenges—they’re well-thought-out performance benchmarks that help track your real-world progress over time, no matter your starting point. Whether you’re new to training or a seasoned athlete, Success Markers help answer a key question:
“Am I actually getting better?”
What Are Success Markers?
Success Markers are specific benchmark workouts or performance goals that we revisit throughout the year. They’re designed to reflect the foundations of functional fitness—such as strength, mobility, endurance, and control.
These are not based on aesthetics, body image, or vague metrics. Instead, they provide clear, tangible signs of how your fitness is evolving.
Examples of Success Markers We Use:
Bodyweight movement test: e.g. max pull-ups over four rounds
Strength progression: e.g. 3-rep max Overhead Press, 5-rep max Squat
Conditioning challenge: e.g. 10-minute kettlebell front rack carry with penalties for breaks
Every Success Marker is scalable. That means there’s always a version that works for your level—this isn’t about chasing a universal standard, it’s about improving your own performance over time.
Why Do We Use Success Markers?
1. Track Real Progress
Success Markers offer clear, objective ways to measure how your strength, control, and stamina are improving, without relying on the mirror. This is about what your body can do, not just how it looks.
2. Stay Motivated and Purpose-Driven
Having something to aim for makes training more meaningful. You're not just “working out”—you're building toward something. That kind of structure keeps you focused and consistent.
3. Train Smarter, Not Just Harder
All Success Markers are linked to our 6–7 week training blocks, which means every session is part of a bigger picture. This isn’t random—it’s strategic, progressive, and built to get you results.
4. Celebrate Your Wins
It’s easy to forget how far you’ve come. Success Markers are checkpoints that let you pause, reflect, and celebrate growth, big or small.
How You Can Get the Most Out of Success Markers
Log your performance: Use your training logbook to record your progress. You’ll gain a clearer view of how far you’ve come.
Don’t compare—progress: This is your journey. Your marker might be more reps, better form, or faster recovery. Progress is personal.
Ask for support: Our coaches are here to guide you. Need a movement scaled? Want to improve your performance? We’ve got you.
Enjoy the process: Success is built over weeks, not in a day. Stick with the process and the progress will come.
Final Thought: Fitness With Intention
At Real Good Fitness, we’re not about punishment or perfection. We’re here to empower you to move better, feel stronger, and train with purpose.
Success Markers shift the focus from how you look to how you live and move.
We're here to build stronger, more capable humans—one session, one phase, one marker at a time.
